On the left foreground are the remains of this gate, erassing the road; on the right are the remains of one of the turrets with which the walls were anciently fortified. The first building is the Basilica, the second the Great Temple or that of Neptune; in the distance is the small temple or that of Ceres. About 4 P M 24 April 1841. By Alex John Ellis No 2'.
