Daguerreobase is an online application designed to contain detailed information about daguerreotypes. Members can view, edit and store records of individual daguerreotypes and establish relations to other records based on a wide range of characteristics. This includes collections, owners, creators, hallmarks, housing models, sizes, materials and descriptions.

The National Library celebrates the daguerreotype

 

testmanOn the 7th of January 2014, the National Library of Norway celebrated the 175th anniversary of the announcement of the daguerreotype with a full day program.

After a short introduction by the head of the department, several local and international speakers were presenting the importance, use and practise of the daguerreotype in Nordic countries.

In the afternoon sessions, the role and importance of the daguerreotype and the Daguerreobase project was discussed.

The day after, most of the Norwegian daguerreotype content providers in the Daguerreobase project, were present to discuss the more practical issues and topics related to the description of daguerreotypes.
