Device for bending the edges of daguerreotype plates to prevent them catching on the buffing sticks and cutting the covering. This board is made from pine with a metal edge. The edge of the metal panel is bevelled to create a smooth bend in the edges of the plate. The daguerreotype plate would have been placed against the small metal stopper 55mm along from the end of the panel. The little wooden block with metal roller would have been pushed over the plate to bend the edge.
