Description: Early Brass bound photographic lens with lens cover and rack and pinion focusing. Front and rear elements detachable with removable stop. Double lens cap with built in stop and screw fitting that can be used when one element is removed. Built in brass lens hood. Focal length 8 inches with 2 elements in place. Double mounting ring meaning it can be used reversibly. Inside of the smaller lens cap is stamped – possibly 1801(?) Inscription on barrel ‘Hermagis, Opn., Paris No. 6937 Brevet d’invention S.G.D.G’ Weight = 1.35kg Overall length = 175mm Small lens cap diameter = 42mm Height = 26mm Circumference = 130mm Large lens cap diameter = 92mm Height = 22mm Circumference = 263mm Largest lens is 55mm in diameter Thread diameter= 82mm Circumference = 221mm
