An iron stand for holding the daguerreotype plate level while applying and heating the gold chloride solution. Levelling is achieved by adjusting two screw feet (the third foot is fixed). The plate is supported on small iron spikes so as to allow more even heating and prevent the iron creating cold areas. 130 x 95mm iron frame on 150mm vertical rod fitted to round base.
