Daguerreobase launched!
The Daguerreobase is presented to the public this week. This happens on two locations: the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam on March 6, and Huis Marseille in Amsterdam on March 7, 2009.

Both museums present daguerreotype exhibitions. The Nederlands Fotomuseum shows a selection of Dutch daguerreotypes from different collection in the exhibition All Is Vanity. Huis Marseille has the Enschedé collection on display, with portraits of members of the famous Dutch printing family. This collection contains some of the earliest known photographs in Holland.

We hope the Daguerreobase will evolve into an active community for those interested in daguerreotypes. Please feel free to roam the archive and look for objects that are rarely put on display. Or compare your own daguerreotype to those in institutional collections.

Daguerreobase membership for free!

There are 2 different sorts of daguerreobase memberships.

One for individual members and one for institutions.

Both are from now on for free.

Apart from some exceptions you still will have a limitation of 10 records you can introduce per account.

This limitation will soon be discontinued for everybody.
